Blind Date

I went on a blind date yesterday.

Before you start thinking anything, Kevin and I are fine, in fact he KNEW about this date.

Yup, I went on my very first Mom blind date!

We all know that feeling.

When a friend says "Oh, I know someone you should meet!" Or "You'd be perfect for each other."

Whether they actually believe what they say, are just want to play match maker and then be able to take credit for it, if it works out, who knows.

Once I was with Kevin, I thought my blind date days were behind me.

Oh so naive!

There's always another couple "you would get along great with!" "You'd love them!"

Then it morphs into other mom's... "You're kid's the same age!" "You live so close!" "You're both moms!" "You're kids have the same name!"

A few weeks ago, one of my favorite Wyldlife girls came by to give Logan a present. (So sweet, I know. :-) That's why I love her!) He mom told me that she mentored a girl who lives in our neighborhood, and had just had a son last summer, and his name just happens to be the same a Logan's middle name.

A few days later she send us an email introducing each other to connect us. (Before you start thinking crazy thoughts, she asked both of us if it was okay first.) A week goes by, and I'm caught up in our Family Fun week (which I promise I will post about some time!), and trying not to think about going back to work. This girl sends me an email saying hi and we begin to set up a time to meet.

Since we live so close, we decided to meet at the mailboxes between our houses and go for a walk around the neighbor. Perfect! It's simple, it's easy, it's close to home, and if things don't work out, when we finish the lap we can go our separate ways. It's easy enough to fill the time it takes to do the loop with the basic 'get to know you' question... How long have you lived here? Where are you from? What do you do? Where did you deliver? How did it go?

Well, lucky for us things went great! It's always great to meet someone else from church, and it's always great to meet a neighbor. She's getting ready to go back to work full time at the end of the summer, so I can empathize with that. It's always great to make a new friend, especially when that friend lives so close. :-)

Have you had any experience with blind dates? Whether it's someone of the opposite sex, a couple, or another mom?

Cute post! I had a mommy blind date before and we chose to meet at a coffee shop since we had connected over the internet on a parenting message board so if one of us turned out to be a creepy old man at least we were in public! It turned out great and we still get together for play dates once in a while.
