Valentine's Day

Kevin surprised me with reservations for dinner at Simone Pierce! I'm not one for celebrating Valentines day, because I don't see why we can't show our love to each other on any other random day, or get dressed up for a nice dinner.
Anyways, dinner was excellent! It snowed on our way there and back, which made for a beautiful drive through West Chester. Our waiter happened to be a glassblower also, so we got to learn how they do it and some inside secrets. Ok, maybe not secrets, but it sounds cooler that way. To end the evening they gave us a cute glass bowl with absolutely deli

Saving The Day

I was wrapping a few things up at work today, and running a little behind when I got a call from Kevin. Normally he comes home shortly after me, so I wasn't expecting him to call to see if I was on my way home or heading to the gym. He was calling because he had one of these: Flat tires are no fun, especially when you don't have a tire iron to take the lug nuts off, and even if you did, your jack was rusted shut. Well, my jack didn't turn out to be much better. I guess when they made Maxima's in the 90's they thought it'd be nice to put a jack in the car, but no crank for it. So the guys had to turn it by hand with a pair of my pliers. (Good thing this chick has a car fully load with tools.) :-) Look at how thankful he is I came to his rescue!

This little bugger turned out to be the culprit. Thank goodness we won't have to buy a new tire (or 2).

Friends

Ok, so I've totally been slacking on blogging. Live got way to busy with work and the holidays, but hopefully I'm back :-)

I had an awesome day today...I got to catch up with my best friend! When we graduated high school she joined the army and was set to be stationed in Germany. Well a few months later 9-11 happened and she was whisked off to Iraq. Over the next 3 years or so I saw her maybe 2 or 3 times. When her 4 years of active service was up she came home to Lancaster. I was caught up in finishing school and my life here and didn't see her as much as I would have liked. Especially when I found out that she had to go back to Iraq. Luckily she finished her time over there less than a week before my wedding and was able to attend :-) That was in July, in November she told me she was moving to Colorado to be with her boyfriend. I hadn't seen her since then until today.

That's one of the things I love about our friendship. It's been 7 1/2 years since we've seen each other almost everyday. 7 1/2 years since we made Turkey Hill runs after soccer practice/games. 7 1/2 years since we took turns driving to church Sunday mornings or youth group game nights. 7 1/2 years since we talked about our first loves and how our lives will be when we grow up. 7 1/2 years since nothing has changed between us. We still are (and always will be) cheeks (chicas).

Sure plenty of things have changed. We've grown up, became women somewhere along the way. Have our own busy lives, and new friends. Live in different states thousands of miles apart. But when we get together it's like none of that matters.

Free Breakfast!!!

A few months ago I was listening to 93.7 WSTW at work and they said to go on their website to sign up for listener rewards. So being the good girl that I am, I obeyed and signed up.

Fast forward a few months and I totally forgot I did that until.... I got a phone call. I was still trying to figure out who Mike Yeager was and why he was calling me when I picked up my call. He said my name was picked in the drawing and they would be by tomorrow morning to drop off food and coffee from Brew Haha! Wow! He said something else, but the phone was crackling and I couldn't hear. I hope I don't have to say anything on the radio! Oh gosh that would be crazy!!! Well if anyone is near a radio tomorrow morning, listen and see if you hear me!

Cheap date

I've never been a girl with expensive taste, expecting to go to a high class restaurant so I can order the most expensive entree. Still going out to any typical restaurant would result in a bill at least $20. If you go once a week that's $80 a month and $960/year! Even just going out for coffee would be a minimum of $6/week and $312/year... and that'd be just coffee, no coffee house treats, and who can do that?

Once a week Kevin and I set aside a night for our date night. Lately they have consisted of staying home and just hanging out, playing games, or watching movies. While there's nothing wrong with that, and it saves money, it's nice to get out once in awhile. So tonight we head out to Barnes and Nobles, got a pumpkin spice latte, green tea latte, and a pumpkin cupcake and went home with 3 books for a grand total of... **drum roll please*... $2.07! Not bad for a cheap date night out! All thanks to the printable coupons for free drinks at BnN! And the books? We stopped by the library across from the mall :-) Gotta love that place!

Goodwill

So I posted a few weeks ago about how I had some fun finds at yard sales! Well yesterday we swung by Goodwill just for fun. I've heard some of the guys at work rave about the the one down 202, so we stopped by on our way home from Delaware. Here are my finds...for a total of $13!

I got 2 turtlenecks, one from The Limited, the other Ann Taylor, one was silk! I also bought a scarf just because it looked just fun. My last find was an uber cute Kate Spade purse. I figured since I cleaned out my closet getting rid of a total of 11 winter-ish shirts, I can 'splurge' and buy 2 new one :-)
