Sleep

I just want to brag a minute.

After late nights between hanging out with friends, sports games, and just life, this momma needed some sleep. Real sleep. Not this wake-up-every-3-hours-to-feed-the-5-month-baby-who-USED -to-be-a-good-sleeper,-then-suddenly-decided-that-sleeping-all-night-was-no-fun kinda sleep.

Yesterday was a horrible nap day. As in, nonexistent naps. We had a few 5 minute car ride naps, but they don't count for much. So when he went down for bed a little before 8, I had a fear that it would be another long night, because no nap days normally equal bad sleep nights. WRONG!

I woke up at 4:30 to little whimpers. Someone was hungry. Someone who had just gone 8.5 hours without eating. This momma happily (well, as happy and someone can be before 5am) hopped out of bed to feed him. We both went back to bed and aside from talking to hubby before he went to work, I was able to sleep till 7:30!!! Where I was able to get up and get ready BEFORE baby woke up. So nice!

Did I mention that I went to bed at 9:30? That's 10 hours of sleep y'all!!! Well, with a minor wake up, but still, TEN HOURS!!!

I feel like a new woman. It was much needed.

I'll leave y'all with a photo from Saturday at the PSU game. A post to come soon!

Tacklin' It Tuesday!

Boy, do I have stuff to tackle! I N.E.E.D. to get this house back in order. Like seriously! With little buddy being a horrible nap taker as of lately, not only do I have NO time to get anything done, but fighting with him to sleep for 1.5 hours sucks up my ability to even DO anything. Not that I'm complaining.

So today I'm going to stay home. I'm not going to meet up with anyone (although the park would be fun...), and I'm not going to run any errands (although I need gas and I think I have a book on hold at the library...).

Living Room -
  • Vacuum furniture
  • Sweep floor
  • Remove everything that does not belong
  • Clean out toy chest
  • Organize baby toys
  • Organize DVD bookcase
Dining Room -
  • Clear off table
  • Scrub down table
  • Shake out rug
  • Sweep floor
Kitchen -
  • Clear table
  • Put away dishes
  • Load dishwasher
  • Wash other dishes
  • Scrub down sink
  • Wipe down counters
  • Sweep floor
  • Make Peach Kuchen

  • Empty litter box
  • Clean half bath
  • Laundry
  • Begin organizing the guest/craft room (I told you guys how I had to rearrange it single handedly, right? Literally, I had a baby in the other hand)

What projects do you need to tackle?

First Bites

(I started this this post on 8/25/11! Oops)

At 4 1/2 months, Logan started on solids!!! It was a bit sooner than I had wanted (I originally wanted to wait until 6 months) but the doctor wanted him to put some more chub on. Since he was showing signs of being ready, ie. eying up our food, trying to grab our food, grabbing cups/mugs/water bottles and being them up to his mouth.
How does this thing work?

Give me, give me, GIVE ME!!!

Mm yeah, here it comes!

Hmm...kinda taste like milk but different...

Whatcha mean there's no more!?!?!

So yes, he loves eating real food!

********** ********** *********** ********** **********

Since it the cereal went so well, I busted out the blender and whipped up some fruits and veggies for him. To date he has had: carrots, green beans, pears, apples and bananas. And has loves every one of them.

Logan loves his food it's super funny to watch him. He does this grunt/sigh as he's waiting for more. The spoon needs to be in constant motion to his mouth or watch out! He will either grab the spoon to shove it in his mouth faster, or he will open his mouth super wide to make sure I don't miss it. He eats it, than slaps the table really hard! Not sure if it's like someone slamming their knee because they liked it so much, or if it's inpatients. Then comes a grunt/sigh and the open mouth. It's quite funny and if I didn't have to move the spoon so fast I might be able to record it.

Ten Years

September 11, 2001

I specifically remember getting out of my Writing 101 class early, super pumped because it was my only class of the day.

Walking out of Anderson hall, across Church Street and into my dorm, Wayne Hall.

Of course the lobby was empty and quiet, not too many college students are stirring before 9 am on a Tuesday. But this silence had a weird feel to it. As I turned to see what the RA behind the front desk was staring at so intently, my roommate came through the front door and stopped beside me. The RA turned to us and told us we should turn the TV on in our room, something horrible had happened. As we hurried up to the 8th floor we were trying to figure out what was going on.

Flipping on the TV, the screen was filled with images we could hardly believe were real! As we were slacked jaw and staring, the second plane hit. We were floored. Within the next few minutes doors were opening up and down the halls and people running from room to room trying to make sense of what was happening. I remember staring at the tiny screen at all the debris falling only to realize that it wasn't all debris. I remember watching the first tower fall, then the second. I remember bonding more with complete strangers that day than ever before. For most of us it
was our first time really away from home, away from the security of the people we love. Phone lines were jammed and we couldn't even talk to our loved ones. I don't think a college floor was ever as close as we become because of what we experienced that day together.

I remember the candlelight vigil held in the academic quad. And the bells that they rang. Everyday at noon they would ring the bells in a variety of tunes, but this one is ingrained in my head forever. One that would bring tears to my eyes on the rare occasion they would play it again.

I remember for days later laying in bed at night talking to my roommate as we stared out the window at the dark sky, freaking out if we saw a blinking light because of the no fly ban and maybe a plane was heading for our dorm next.

I remember a few days later the darkness as the smoke moved south and filled our sky.

I will always remember. I will never forget.

Tasty Thursday

I used to do Tasty Tuesdays on my old blog, but since I want to use the recipe I made last night (before I forget it!) I'm going to have a Tasty Thursday :-) I wanted to take a picture of it, but it smelled way to good to run and grab the camera...next time I guess :-)

And believe me...this IS tasty!!!

Bean Enchiladas

  • 2T vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 - 15.5 oz cans cannellini beans (drained)
  • 12 - 6 inch tortillas
  • 1/2 packet taco seasoning
  • 2 cups salsa (medium)
  • 1.5 cups shredded pepper jack cheese
1. Preheat oven to 375*. In a medium saucepan heat the oil over medium heat. Add in the onions and cook until the onions start to brown.

2. Stir in the bean and cook about 1 minute, then sprinkle with seasoning (add a little water if necessary). Cook about 7 minutes until beans are soft, mashing them while stirring.

3. Place about 1/4 cup of mashed beans on 1 tortilla and roll up to enclose. Place in an oiled 9x13 pan. Repeat with remaining 11 tortillas.

4. Pour salsa over filled tortillas and sprinkle cheese on top.

5. Bake until cheese is melted and salsa is bubbling, about 20 minutes.

6. ENJOY!

What I'm Loving Wednesday: Labor Day Edition

It's been awhile since I've linked up with Jamie...

So here's What I'm loving...

Friends! Not too many people can keep me up till 1am any more...These guys are such a blessing in my life.

Family! I feel like it's only on holidays that I get to see my extended family any more, but it's always a great time. My dad's brothers are super intelligent and have a crazy sense of humor that always adds up to a good time.

Kittens! My SIL rescued this little guy. Makes me miss when my babies were that tiny...until I remember the trouble they got into :-)

Speaking of little guys... He melts hearts (especially mine!) with that smile :-)

What are you loving on this rainy, dreary Wednesday?

Monday's Musing

I don't normally contribute to this blog, but I feel led to tonight. As I sit here with nothing but music filling the room I began to go through the past year of my life and traced each move that God has made in the lives of Renae and myself. Also, let me add that His timing has been impeccable. Here is just a short list of what happened from last summer through this summer.

2/10 - Renae and I began our search for a home
3/10 - We had seen some nice houses, and one I really wanted I had a nightmare about so we decided against it...good thing that we did (the reason behind it is a longer story)
4/10 - We found the place that we wanted, and that was priced way to good to be true
5/10 - We began the short sale process (which was a looooong sale process)
6/10 - Little Logan began to grow inside of Renae (little to our knowledge)
7/10 - Discovered that Renae was expecting
Got into a car accident that totaled my car
           Finally settled on the house
Renae made an out of the air comment about the current year at TCA would be my last
11/10 - Began struggling with whether I would be returning to TCA to teach, and I had an experience at my Bible study where I just knew that I had to work something out so that Renae could be a stay-at-home mom
2/11 - 4/11 - placed a few applications out to the market and heard absolutely nothing in return
3/11 - Logan Micah Reigner was born
3/11 - 4/11 - Told TCA I would not return (I fully was relying on God), countless days of people making me feel as though Renae and I were making a bad choice and my principal faithfully pursued me to stay for another year
6/11 - I said a tearful good-bye to TCA
I sent an application to a school, and coincidentally a teacher that previous day had mentioned that they would rather be a stay-at-home mother and would not be returning to their position (naturally they called me in for an interview)
Two-weeks after my interview, I was scheduled for two more interviews back-to-back, and was offered the position
7/11 - Renae was able to quit her job and pursue her dream of being a stay-at-home mom
8/11 - Inductions for my job began and everyone I met I either had met before, knew through a mutual friend, or is a believer.
9/11 - Renae and I walk in faith and thank God for providing for us and directing our steps along the way because without his guidance and protection we would be so lost right now.
We are looking forward to how God will continue to provide for us and show us how real He is.

People can overlook these things and just think that they are coincidences, lucky decisions, or just good planning but let me tell you....the way things just opened and closed before us was way to specific to be just a coincidence or luck and the way our heads were spinning and people were advising us I feel that it was not good planning...unless praying constitutes as good planning.
