Not Me Monday

  • I am NOT still obsessing about the house we have a bid on. Nope, I'm totally patient and can wait for months to hear back from the bank. No problem waiting here!
  • I did NOT silently mutter not-so-nice things as I walked to my car this morning. That walk did NOT include wading through the mud because someone did not have the brilliant idea to obliterate our front steps, hence making us use the back entrance (that doesn't have a sidewalk) without checking the weather.
  • I am NOT wishing the first half of this week away in hopes of the sunshine and warm weather coming on Thursday.
  • I didn't spend Saturday with some friends who are moms, and Sunday in the toddler room. I did not have dreams about having a baby as a result.
  • I did NOT get hooked on the show Parenthood this weekend. Nope, I would never add a new TV show to my hulu list.

House #6 or is it #5?

We've seen a few, um, interesting places, close to the busy road houses, we've seen huge (in our standards) *perfect* houses, we've seen filthy, smelly needs more TLC houses, we've seen townhouses, and we saw twins.

We put in our first offer last night!!! Eeeekkk!!! I never realized how much goes into it, or how nervous I'd be! I get nervous when I sign a lease for an apartment, so just seeing all the pages and all the little details is a bit overwhelming. Plus seeing the total cost for everything doesn't help either. I think the most money I ever spend on anything was my car at $3,000 like 5 years ago. This is like a gabillion times that amount. (Over 30 years, but still the amount upfront is still way more than my $3k)

It also doesn't help knowing that there are like 4 other offers in on it. It's bank owned, so who knows how long we have to wait, or what will happen. The funny thing we discovered though, is according to records, the bank bought it at a sheriffs auction for less that $3000! I wish I was at that sale!

I'm trying hard not to get too excite or my hopes up, or start dreaming about what we are going to do with it. But it's tough. It's so fun to daydream about colors and decorating and where to put the garden and all that fun stuff. Ahh.

So hopefully we'll know today it we win, or if we will be trying to get our second choice (which is maybe God's first choice for us?)

Lists and Listings

So after looking at a few places we are starting to realize what we need to make a priority, and what we can live without. It's so easy to get caught up in something and talk yourself into loving it even when it's missing something super important.

We had originally said we want a twin, but we weren't opposed to looking at twins. Then we were shown a townhouse that was really nice. It wouldn't need any work, we could just move straight in. It was pretty and wasn't dirty. I wasn't afraid of what I might be breathing in. It was easy to get caught up in it, but having a yard is a big thing for us, and that was one thing it didn't have. Sure there was common space in the back, but it was much, we wouldn't have to worry about taken care of it, but we also couldn't plant a garden. We couldn't open up the back door and let the dog out.

So tonight we sat night and finally wrote down everything that we want onto slips of paper. Then we put them in order of importance. It really helped us to get on the same page and really know what we want, want we won't compromise, and what we could bend on.

We also learned not to get our hearts set on anything as the house we were going to see for the second time went under contract less than 24 hours before we went. :-(

And, we looked at what our budget might look like with not only an increase in our rent/mortgage payment but also with the cost of sewer and water and oil (or a larger electric bill w/ a larger space) etc. Not to mention repairs and such.
Now I just have to convince Kevin to go back to teach for WCASD so I can stay at home when we have kids. :-)

Possiblities

Hi!!! It's me...the one who post on here less often than I should.

Between Wyldlife/Younglife, friends, work, sewing, reading and trying to keep our place not looking like a bomb went off, I just don't have the time (or maybe it's patience) to boot up my laptop, wait 10 minutes for it to actually turn on, and type something up. Okay, maybe it's laziness too. :-)

Well, we are potentially facing big changes in our lives, and I want to keep track and be able to look back at the process, especially if we have to do it again sometime.

We are beginning to look at houses!!!!!!!!! Eeekkkk!!!! Super exciting!!!

We received our pre-approval letter early last week, and the next day our realtor sent us a list of houses in the area. There were two on the list that we really like and are going to see on Monday. I'm really excited! I know the first one needs to some, work that's what we want. We want something to work on, and have projects as long as the house is livable in the process. So we'll see how they turn out.

We are really relying on God through this, and know that what we get is going to be a total blessing from Him. We have our expectations set high for where and what we want, but you can't put God in a box, right?

I'm not getting my hopes up, I know the longer we stay were we are, the more we can save and the less stress we will feel. It may be a year from now until we find "the one", and I'm okay with that.

I guess this will help keep me accountable for posting :-)

P.S. I haven't forgotten about the Proverbs 31, I have a few verses finished in my notebook, I'm just to lazy to type them up...

Proverbs 31 Woman

We all hear about the Proverbs 31 woman, and how wonderful she is, but how much do we really know? It's like the generic verses for how to live like a godly woman, just like 1 Cor. 13 is the love chapter.

So I'm going to go over a verse a week, so stay tuned! :-)

Oh, and stay tuned for some snow pictures. My laptop is slower than molasses since she got 'sick', and often I'm just to lazy to wait 10 minutes for her to boot up, or to ADD to remember that I did. :-)

200K

Kevin's car hit another milestone last night...

We were driving down 202 when it rolled, so I couldn't get a picture right away, but as soon as we hit a red light I whipped out my phone. :-)

Way to go Maxie!!! Let's see how much more we can get out of her. :-)

The Words I Would Say

I was cleaning the other night with music on the TV for motivation. I was jamming out to this one song, and went into the room to see what it was called so I could look up the lyrics later.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was sung by the Sidewalk Prophets! I recognized the name immediately because a guy I went to college with is the drummer! Pretty sweet!!! Check them out because they are seriously amazing!

The song's called The Words I Would Say:

Three in the morning,
And I'm still awake,
So I picked up a pen and a page,
And I started writing,
Just what I'd say,
If we were face to face,
I'd tell you just what you mean to me,
I'd tell you these simple truths,

Be strong in the Lord and,
Never give up hope,
You're going to do great things,
I already know,
God's got His hand on you so,
Don't live life in fear,
Forgive and forget,
But don't forget why you're here,
Take your time and pray,
These are the words I would say,

Last time we spoke,
You said you were hurting,
And I felt your pain in my heart,
I want to tell you,
That I keep on praying,
Love will find you where you are,
I know cause I've already been there,
So please hear these simple truths,

Be strong in the Lord and,
Never give up hope,
You're going to do great things,
I already know,
God's got His hand on you so,
Don't live life in fear,
Forgive and forget,
But don't forget why you're here,
Take your time and pray,
These are the words I would say,

From one simple life to another,
I will say,
Come find peace in the Father,

Be strong in the Lord and,
Never give up hope,
You're going to do great things,
I already know,
God's got His hand on you so,
Don't live life in fear,
Forgive and forget,
But don't forget why you're here,
Take your time and pray,
Thank God for each day,
His love will find a way,
These are the words I would say

Love it!!!
